Description
How to give an original and unexpected screen performance, which ticks all the right boxes while being truly unique.
If you’ve ever been on the other side of castings, you know that most of the actors who walk through the door, or submit self-tapes, give more or less the exact same performance.
It can be a solid, professional performance, but the interpretation is more or less the same for all of them.
This means that, for the most part, you end up casting on looks, not on skills. Every so often, however, an actor would walk in and do something completely different.
In some cases, it’s different in a bad way and you end up laughing about it afterwards. Sometimes, instead, it’s amazing. It completely reframes your understanding of the character and truly blows you away. No one who comes after that actor has even the slightest chance.
That’s the performance you want to be able to give.
In order to do that, you have to understand what the role requires, what is the function of the character within the story and within the scene, and what is the most obvious way to play that character. After that, you can start exploring different approaches on how to play it.
In this two day intensive professional workshop you will learn:
- How to identify your character’s role in the overall story
- How to determine what makes each scene work
- How to create an effective journey for your character in the scene
- How to pinpoint the most obvious way to play the character
- How to fulfill the script’s objective in an original and unexpected way
- How to create an intimate and intense performance that will read well on the screen
