Carrying the Story – Screen Acting Workshop

How to make sure you create a cohesive and engaging journey when you play the protagonist of a movie, or any character with more than just one scene.

When we perform on stage, most of the time we go through the emotional journey of our characters chronologically, the same way that the audience experiences them.

When we work on camera, instead, most of the time we have to shoot the scenes completely out of order, often with minimal rehearsal, so keeping track of where the character is emotionally and psychologically at any given moment becomes very tricky.

This is obviously true for the lead characters in movies or TV series, but it’s also important if you’re playing any supporting characters with more than one scene.

And, even if you only have one scene, understanding the story arc of the protagonist will help you make choices that fit better into the overall narrative and increase your chances to get cast and make the final cut!

In this two day intensive professional workshop you will learn:

• How to make sure your performance is always screen friendly
• How to analyse a full screenplay and identify the major beats of the story in order to shape your performance accordingly
• How to create a believable and strong journey for your character
• How to ensure that every scene is as impactful as possible, while still fitting into the overall narrative
• How to prepare for each scene effectively
